Riikka Latva-Somppi (*1969) is a Finnish artist, sculptor, curator and teacher working at the intersection of fine art, glass, ceramics and contemporary craft. She studied ceramic and glass design at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, today's Aalto University, where she is currently also a doctoral candidate. In her work she has long explored the relationship between the human being, the body, material and the environment.
Her work often connects personal experience with broader social and environmental themes. Alongside her own work she also devotes herself to public commissions, curatorial work and teaching. She has exhibited in Finland and abroad, among others in the Czech Republic, Germany, China, the USA and South Korea. At Galerie Kuzebauch she presented, together with Maxim Velčovský, the exhibition Organika in 2016. Her works are represented, for example, in the Finnish Glass Museum, the State Art Collection of Finland, the Vantaa Art Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
