Jakub Berdych Karpelis (*1971) is one of the leading personalities of contemporary design – he entered the art scene in the 1990s and became a co-founder of the design studio Qubus Design, since whose inception he has focused on conceptual work with traditional Czech materials such as glass and porcelain. He has been regularly nominated and awarded for his work at the Czech Grand Design (2006, 2008), ELLE Decor International Design Awards (2011, 2016). Examples of Jakub’s work can be found in galleries in the Czech Republic and abroad, including Moss in New York and the Mint in London, as well as in several museum collections, such as the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and Die Neue Sammlung – Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, and in private collections.
